Add a bold, natural focal point to your aquascape with our hand-selected Mopani Driftwood. Sourced from Africa, this wood is famous for its striking dual-tone coloration—a rich, dark heartwood contrasted by smooth, pale sapwood. Its rugged, gnarled texture and dense composition make it a favorite for both high-end aquascaping and functional habitats for fish and invertebrates.

Key Features:

  • Instant Sinker: As one of the densest hardwoods available, most pieces sink immediately without the need for weights or anchors.

  • Stunning Visual Contrast: Features a unique mottled grain and two-tone color palette that adds immediate character to any setup.

  • Natural Water Conditioning: Gradually releases beneficial tannins that can help lower pH levels and create a healthy, stress-reducing "blackwater" environment.

  • Shrimp & Pleco Friendly: Provides a perfect surface for beneficial biofilm and algae growth, offering an essential supplemental food source for shrimp and wood-grazing plecos.

  • Extremely Durable: A slow-rotting wood that maintains its structural integrity underwater for years.

Preparation & Use:

Because Mopani is so dense, it contains a high concentration of tannins. If you prefer crystal-clear water, we recommend boiling the wood for 1–2 hours or soaking it in a separate container for 1–2 weeks, changing the water daily until the tint lightens.
